Latest DeWine Ad Full of Misleading Claims, Renacci Says Ohioans are Smart Enough to See Through It
March 29, 2022
"If Mike DeWine is so anxious about defending his record, he should stop putting out misleading TV ads and join me on a debate stage instead."
Just hours after a new poll showed Jim Renacci defeating Mike DeWine by double digits, DeWine released a new ad that reaffirms he knows he's in serious trouble with Republican primary voters. DeWine is hoping Ohio voters forget his record, but let's review the facts.
- Mike DeWine's "plan" for reopening the schools he shut down was months behind other conservative states like Florida and Texas. Even then, DeWine continued to demand school districts force children to wear masks for eight hours a day.
- Ohio Republicans don't forget that, in the heat of the Left's anti-police riots in 2020, DeWine called the riots "understandable and appropriate."
- Ohio's economic recovery is among the slowest in the nation under DeWine's watch and our state ranks near the bottom in business environment and tax competitiveness.
Jim Renacci released the following statement in response to DeWine's latest ad:
"If Mike DeWine is so anxious about defending his record, he should stop putting out misleading TV ads and join me on a debate stage instead. DeWine senses that Ohio Republicans are about to put an end to his four decade political career. Ohioans remember DeWine is the candidate who shut down our schools and then forced our children to wear masks in class. They remember that DeWine called the Left's 2020 riots 'understandable and appropriate.' They remember that DeWine killed three quarters of a million jobs with his Fauci-inspired lockdowns, and are reminded everyday that Ohio has one of the worst economic recoveries in the nation under his watch. Real conservative leadership is coming soon, and it starts with defeating Mike DeWine in May."
