New Report: DeWine has made Ohio Worst State in Region for Jobs and Business

12/16/21

Wadsworth, OH- The Tax Foundation, the nation’s leading independent tax policy analyst, released its annual State Business Tax Climate Index today. The report verified what far too many Ohio families and businesses already know; Mike DeWine has made Ohio the worst state in the region to open a business. While neighboring states like Indiana and Michigan rank 9th and 14th respectively, Ohio ranks 39th in the nation when it comes to business tax climate under Mike DeWine—far worse than any of Ohio’s five neighboring states.

Today’s Tax Foundation report comes three years after Jim Renacci launched Ohio’s Future Foundation, an Ohio-based non-profit that repeatedly sounded the alarm bells about the fact that Ohio’s high tax climate under DeWine was driving business out of Ohio. Mike DeWine ignored the warning signs and plowed ahead with his leftist, big government agenda anyway—paralyzing Ohio’s economy and crippling small businesses across the state.

“Today’s Tax Foundation report simply verifies was countless families and business across Ohio tragically already know—Mike DeWine is keeping Ohio closed for business. For years, I’ve been warning DeWine about the destruction his job crushing policies were causing to Ohio families—but as usual, he refused to listen.  As Governor, my top priority will be opening Ohio for business and delivering a climate that promotes business growth and job creation rather than stifling it like Mike DeWine has,” Jim Renacci said today.
